Pastor Charles Smith II

Pastor Charles Smith was born and raised in Los Angeles CA. He answered the call to ministry at a young age. He was Ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 2007 by Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake Sr. He has faithful served and supported So. California First Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Joe. L. Ealy. Pastor Smith has earned a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership & Business Management from University of La Verne. His passion for helping others grow in faith is evident in his dedication and commitment to teaching the bible as well as volunteering his time in the community.

Before becoming the lead pastor at Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C Pastor Smith served in various roles including youth pastor, Sunday school teacher and outreach coordinator. His leadership style is centered around spiritual growth, personal empowerment, discipleship, and community building. He believes in creating a church environment that fosters both natural and spiritual growth.

In addition to his work at the church, Pastor Smith is deeply involved in community service. He enjoys working with the youth, families, and the underserved community.

Pastor Smith is married to First Lady Jamela Smith and together they have 5 children. The have been happly married for over 20 years. Pastor Smith is committed to fostering a loving and supportive environment both at home and within the church family.

Pastor Smith vision for the future of Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C is to impact the community and abroad through the teaching and preaching of Gods Holy Word, additionally, to see men and woman receive salvation through Jesus Christ and finally, to experience expediential Church Growth which will enable Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C to reach the masses.


First Lady Jamela Smith

First Lady Jamela Smith grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12, embarking on a lifelong journey of building a deep, personal relationship with the Lord. Her commitment to serving God was solidified in 2009 when she was consecrated as a Deaconess Missionary in the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake Sr. (emeritus).

Her ministry journey began with her service in the children’s ministry. Along side her husband Pastor Charles Smith, First Lady Smith has devoted herself to advancing outreach ministries that provide essential services to underserved communities in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Her focus remains on meeting the basic needs of those in her community while sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

First Lady Smith has served as the Sunday School teacher for the Primary age children, imparting Biblical truths and encouraging the next generation to grow in their relationship with Christ. Beyond her ministry work, she has also excelled academically, earning a Bachelor of Arts in General Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2018. She went on to complete a dual Master’s of Arts in Educational Psychology and an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology in 2021.

Married to Pastor Charles Smith for over 20 years, Jamela and her husband are blessed with five beautiful children. With a heart for ministry and a passion to serve, First Lady Smith prayer is to continue spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through teaching, giving, and demonstrating God’s love in support Pastor’s Smith’s vision for the future of New Greater Hope Church of God In Christ.
